HIMACHAL is a state in north India . Hima means snow in sanskrit and means lap so the joint meaning is the lap of himalaya . Himachal is generally known for its beautiful snow covered mountains , soothing sceneries , natural beauty and unbounded eye catching serenity .

But now you will come to know about some of the himachali food / dishes in this blog ...so here is the list of yummy and tasty and easy to make dishes that are unique and mind boggling so lets begin . It is a different version of kachoris which itself is a very common and popular street dish in India. so if you are craving for kachoris you can definately try these . it is a flat bread which is stuffed with black gram paste added to kneaded dough . now it can be made as sweet dish so here is a recipe for it and for these namkeen one more recepie that will come ahead .
~NON -VEG. DISH :
-TANDOORI CHICKEN
It is one of the very famous dishes among shimla people still its not the local dish of shimla but it is very much loved so you can try this whwnever you come to shimla because name can be same but every place has its own tadka or twist to every dish which makes it more tasty and different .
Chamba is also a very beautiful district with greeny mountains , curvy roads , gorgeous views , fantastic monuments , temples and places . so lets talk about he dishes Chamba is known for :

Is is made by soaked chick peas (channa) or vegetables cooked well in oil and various type of indian masalas ansd spices . it can be easily founded in local resturants or hotels as it is one of the important dish of very famous himachali dhaams .

It is a tasty dish prepared with marinated lamb which is cooked in gravy of gram flour and yogurt . Taste is increased by cooking in spices . so for non veg lovers here is easy and yummy dish give it a try you will love it .
3. HAMIRPUR:
It is famous for baba nath temple which attracts no. Of visitors every year..... The monuments like in sujanpur tihra ....... also the very famous holi fair of Sujanpur is very known and done on large level. So now let's talk about the dishes....
~ VEG DISH :

It is a sweet dish prepared by wheat grain , tap water and yeast . it very unique and is very much enjoyed and made on festive occasions . Talking about the non veg dish .. here no non veg dish is very famous but yes there are many non veg dishes like mutton , chicken tandoor , mutton korma , chicken 65 can be easily eaten in resturants or hotels .
4. KANGRA :
It is the most populus district which is famous for temples , historic monuments and beautiful view eye catching view of Dharamshala and Mcleodganj .
~VEG DISH :
- SIDDU --->
It can be made veg / non veg . It is somewhat difficult to prepare and takes time but it is very tasty and looks so good . It can be found all over himachal . According to the gravy filled inside its taste also changes .It can be stuffed with vegetables , daals , dry fruits etc.
-KANGRI DHAM --->
Is becoming very popular all over north India for its taste and variety . so if you visit kangra it is a must try . it consists of 6-7 dishes ,rice, chappati and very main the last part but not the least that is - MEETHA BHAT :
are simply sweet rice with coconut and dry fruits .
5. KULLU :
Kullu Valley is a broad open valley in Himachal pradesh, India, formed by the Beas River between Manali and Largi.
This valley is famous for its temples, beauty and its majestic hills
covered with pine and deodar forest and sprawling apple orchards.

Kullu trout is a traditional pahari dish that originates from the hilly
state of Himachal Pradesh. Kullu Trout is a fish recipe, preparing which
is easy and tasty.A Fried fish prepared in minimal spices to
retain the natural taste of fish .So you can give it a try when you come here or simply cook your simple fish in this style as in the linked video .
6.LAHUL AND SPITI :
The Lahaul and Spiti district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh consists of the two separate districts of Lahaul and Spiti. The two valleys are quite different in character. Spiti is more barren and difficult to cross... so lets talk about the dishes .

Is a sweet dish made during festive time or sone celebration .it is a type of pan cake made from the buck wheat . It is originated from the spiti valley but made all over Himachal pradesh . NON VEG DISHES of chicken , lamb, and other animals are eaten commonly and also the flesh is dried in the upper higher region as the weather is very harsh and cold and therefore food is stocked by people in their homes . Fafra & Oglaare varieties of buckwheat that grow in a tiny part of Sangla valley . Fafra (also phaphra) & ogla are essentially grains that are then
ground to make flour from which chiltas that are the flat pancakes . They
can be eaten with chutneys or dips made of curd etc.
~ DISHES :
BHATURU is a fermented roti or a bread made of fermented flour which is eaten after deep frying or roasting .It is eaten with vegetables , mixed vegetables or any other dal or sabzi... similarly sweet snack made of wheat flour and jaggery called rot is eaten on festive occasions . Mah ki dal k pakode are also famous here ...however dishes like kadi , babroo , dals are eaten not only here but all over himachal .Beduan is also very famous here you can try all of them .. they are very easy to prepare .
